The Arcido Bag, made for “smarter carry on travel”, is live on Kickstarter.
This cabin-sized backpack is made from a waterproof canvas with waterproof zips. It’s going to retail for around £160, although you can get a discount by pre-ordering.
- Correct size for use as carry-on luggage on all major airlines
- Made from waterproof materials
- Massive inner pocket
- Removable laptop sleeve
- Comes with passport holder + washbag
How it looks:
The bag looks really smart and the exterior is made from a 16oz cotton canvas. The material is actually ‘lined with PVC’ and sprayed with a water-resistant coating which makes it weatherproof, although not suitable for submersion in water. It’s also got waterproof zips which were especially selected to run easily around the bag. This isn’t the kind of material you’d expect to see from a dedicated travel bag, but makes a change from standard black nylon.
How it functions:
In terms of functionality, it’s designed to be opened flat like a suitcase rather than a traditional backpack. Then inside, there’s a huge main compartment to store clothes and shoes. Another inner zip that means you can also stuff things between the outer ‘shell’ and the inner pocket.
At the back of the bag, a laptop compartment stores all your tech, pens and bits and pieces. There’s a laptop ‘harness’ included which adjusts to fit up to 15.4” laptops, and can be totally removed if you’re not using it. The whole thing is suspended inside the bag, which means if you drop it the bottom of your laptop won’t be impacted. Keeping your tech near your back like this means it feels really secure.
There’s a matching documents holder and a reusable liquids bag, too. They come as a package with Kickstarter, the first 100 bags will be sold including both these accessories for under £100.
A couple of other highlights include the inner waterproof pouch for liquids, and hideaway straps which mean you can turn the whole bag into a messenger and carry it over one shoulder. It’s designed to make it wearable with a suit, if you don’t want to wear it as a backpack.
The Arcido bag is meant for one-bag travellers, and ideal if you’ve decided to ditch the wheels in favour of a carry-on backpack. Made from premium materials, it’s designed to streamline your travel experience in a sleek package. Check out the Kickstarter campaign today!
