Grand Trunk Travel Towel Review:
In our fast paced and complicated world, the death of the single-function device seems to be nearing, which makes the Grand Trunk travel towel the perfect towel of the modern age. While most travel towels are simply super-absorbent sheets of microfiber, the Grand Trunk towel is a super-absorbent sheet of microfiber and a skirt and a sarong and a workout towel – at the same time. Welcome to the future.
The Grand Trunk travel towel is a feature heavy towel, which is very similar to the Sea to Summit travel towel, except a bit larger. The materials and even the colors of the two towels are almost exactly the same, both being made of dark blue absorbent and soft microfiber.
The feature that sets the Grand Trunk Micro FiberPack Towel apart from other travel towels is that it can be worn around your body hands free using the built in button closure.
This is how Grand Trunk describes it on their website:
“A built-in button closure means you can wear it around your waist during your post-shower dash to your clothes”
I wouldn’t say that the feature is extremely necessary, but it is a cool add on which I might use every once in a while.
Here is a demonstration of me wearing the towel as a skirt:
Pros:
- The towel can be worn using the button closure
- Lightweight and Compact
- Large Enough to Cover My Body, larger than most other travel towels
- Has a Hang Loop
- Includes carrying pouch
- Absorbent
- Quick drying
Cons:
- More expensive ($29) than most other travel towels
- Not plush
While I did include the fact that the Grand Trunk travel towel isn’t plush, it’s important for me to clarify that no travel towels are as plush as your average cotton towel that you’d find in a hotel room or at home. If they were that plush, they wouldn’t be portable or lightweight. However, compared to the plusher travel towels, like the Eagle Creek travel towel, the towel by Grand Trunk isn’t plush. It is as thin as the Sea to Summit DryLite towel, which is around 1mm thick.
The Verdict:
At retail $29, the Grand Trunk travel towel is a bit pricier than other travel towels, like the Eagle Creek towel and the Travelon towel.
