Lewis N. Clark Cable Luggage Lock Review

The TSA exists for our own good, however its track record isn’t exactly spotless.

For some extra accountability, you can use Lewis N. Clark’s Indicator luggage lock, which indicates when the lock has been opened by TSA agents. If the keyhole for TSA agents is used to open the lock, the red cylinder at the bottom of the lock will pop out.

Here are my thoughts on the Lewis N. Clark luggage lock after testing it out:

Pros:

• Flexible locking cable
• Fits on all luggage zippers
• Indicator feature
• Easy to use
• TSA approved

This luggage lock is made completely of metal and has the standard 3 number combination dial. The cable is made of metal as well and has a plastic cover. The cable allows you to lock onto zippers of all kinds.

The default combination is 0, 0, 0 is easy to change. See video below for a demonstration on how to change the combination (the lock in the video is different from the one I’m reviewing, but the combination reset mechanism is the same):

There are always reviews and ratings out there saying how TSA locks are flimsy and can be broken in to. I mainly see luggage locks as deterrents and ways to keep the zippers from accidentally opening, so I’m not overly concerned about that. With the right tools and enough time, a thief could break into any lock.

Cons:

I haven’t come across any issues with this lock, however I will update this post if I do.

The Verdict:

The Lewis N. Clark Travel Sentry Indicator Cable Lock is a standard, but reliable luggage lock. The cable makes it flexible and easy to use on backpacks and luggages of all types and sizes and indicator feature is a useful when traveling by plane.

This lock costs retail $17.49, which is a bit high for a luggage lock, but you’re putting down a few more dollars because of the indicator feature.
