Staying fit while traveling is pretty hard, especially when there are so many new foods to try, like alfajores in Uruguay.

वैसे भी, I decided to start running while staying in Montevideo, उरुग्वे. I have a strange relationship with running. About a year ago I started to jog weekly, and enjoyed it, but I never really had too much time to do it. I liked it, but I didn’t like it that much that I would wake up before school to run. Also my knees and heels hurt after I would run. So I eventually stopped.

In Montevideo there are these places called ramblas that are next to the beach. From the ramblas there are great views of the Montevideo skyline and coastline. They have walking/jogging/biking friendly areas. Just recently I decided to start running again with my dad along the rambla.
It’s been really nice to be back to running. I find it to be fun and at the same time it is good for my body.
I’ve been wearing my Merrell Embark Glove GTX, which are minimalist trail running shoes. I’m not sure, but I think that the shoes have helped me to run more naturally with a mid foot landing, making running easier on my body. This is my review of the shoe.

I changed my original shoe laces that came with my Merrells to new Lock Laces, which are non-tying shoelaces that are elastic. They are easier to work with than normal shoelaces. Here is my review of my Lock Laces.
I usually run on the compact sand near the water, directly on the beach in Montevideo. I prefer running on the sand because the sand is softer than the concrete on the rambla, जो है, मुझे लगता है, better for my joints. It’s also more interesting and calming with the waves constantly washing in. There are less car exhaust fumes too.

Since it is winter here, I’ve been wearing my Nike fleece beanie, that’s reversible. It keeps my head warm, but doesn’t make me overheat.

I almost always wear my sunglasses while outside. I wear the Oakley 20s and they stay in place while I run. They are prescribed sunglasses, meaning that I can use them as glasses while protecting my eyes from the sun. Plus they are polarized, making it easier to see into water and other things with less glare.
I usually just wear a t-shirt and shorts to run. It has been around 50 को 60 degrees Fahrenheit lately in Montevideo, but I still prefer to wear shorts and a t-shirt. It really seems like everyone here is afraid of the cold. I’ve only seen one person wearing shorts recently, but I would gladly wear shorts, and I’m from Florida! It was around 65 degrees out one day and people were wearing heavy winter jackets and scarves.
What’s up with that!
So I’m always that one weird Asian kid sticking out, wearing shorts and a t-shirt running on the rambla, while everyone else is freezing.

अंत में, I always bring my Timex Ironman Sleek Watch, model number T5K254. I’ve had it for a year and a half, and I use it to time my runs and stuff like that. It has a really large face and is tap screen, meaning that to split laps I can just tap on the screen instead of having to slow my runs town to push a button.

धन्यवाद! I’m hoping to do some running when I’m off exploring Australasia. Took a break from running over the last few months after being in continuous training for over a year. Getting back into running whilst travelling will be stripped back running for me, without all the gadgets, gels and running accessories. Let’s see how I get on. 🙂
Sounds like it’s going to be a great experience! I feel like whenever I’m traveling it’s really hard to keep up with running schedules so I’ve been really inconsistent lately. Have fun 😀
