Timberland Stormbuck Lite Brogue Oxfords Review

Timberland Stormbuck Lite Brogue Oxfords are good news for shoe lovers. They perfectly merge style and comfort into one shoe made of a blend of suede and fabric.

During my testing, these brogues stood out in terms of comfort and design. The shoes are lightweight hence the word ‘Lite’ in their name, weighing 1.5 lbs for a pair in size 9.

I’m reviewing the Timberland Men’s Stormbuck Lite Brogue Shoes in ‘Navy Suede’ size 9.

Pros:

• Lightweight
• Comfortable
• Versatile
• Stylish

Walking around Manhattan with these shoes on, I didn’t have any problems walking 30+ blocks and skipping around chewed gum and questionable liquids along the sidewalks.

I was really surprised by how comfortable these brogues are. Usually I associate ‘oxfords’ with ‘not as comfortable as sneakers’, but that conception was wrong in this case. Since the sole is made almost entirely of foam (possibly a durability issue?), every step you take is cushioned. When visiting the Museum of Finance in lower Manhattan, my feet felt comfortable while I stood for a couple of hours during a group tour and while looking at the exhibits and artifacts. These shoes are even more comfortable than the Ahnu Parksides, which I’ve recently reviewed.

While I’m no style expert, FashionBeans.com has this to say about brogues:

[B]rogues are surprisingly versatile, suiting both casual and smarter attire.

Versatility is a huge plus if you’re planning on using these for traveling since you’ll be able to wear these shoes for most occasions. I’ve worn the shoes with jeans and a polo and also with button up shirts.

As for durability, I haven’t tested these shoes for very long, but will update this review if anything comes up.

Fit:

The Timberland Stormbuck Lite Brogues fit true to size. I’m a size 9 in Nike, Ahnu, Keen and also Timberland. There’s enough room in the toe box for your toes splay and also a good amount of arch support.

Cons:

• Not much traction

While these shoes certainly aren’t for running around the outdoors, I’m a bit concerned about the lack of traction on the soles. The soles are almost completely smooth with tiny ridges etched in for more flexibility. Around the heel area, the sole is rubber, however the rest is made of foam. The current traction is appropriate for walking through airport security, I wouldn’t want to wear these Timberlands during an impromptu adventure.

The Verdict:

Appropriate for casual wear with jeans and even business occasions, the Timberland Stormbuck Brogues are a stylish and versatile pair, perfect for travelers looking to be comfortable and presentable. Some of my favorite aspects of these shoes include their light weight and comfort which makes them suitable for long walking tours and on long flights.
