Stance Socks Review:
While most socks are simply black or white, and overall uninspiring, Stance claims to combine both style and functionality in their socks. For the most part, Stance has practiced what it preached, by creating comfortable and stylish casual socks. I ended up getting 2 outrageously colorful pairs of Stance socks, including the ‘Barracks’, and another, which I couldn’t find the name of online.
The Barracks socks are made of combed cotton, polyester, spandex and nylon, and are extremely soft.
The model that I own sports a unique design containing multiple bright colors, flowers, stripes, dots and more.
Pros:
- Stylish design/pattern
- Wicks sweat and moisture
- Soft and comfortable
- Decent fit
The socks fit decently well, better than normal socks, however not an amazing fit. You can feel that the socks were specifically made to fit the shape of your foot with a bit of arch support. These socks also wick sweat and keep your feet from getting too sweaty.
Cons:
- No features other than a cool design
- Relatively expensive (retail $14)
Other than the swanky design, there aren’t too many other features of the Stance socks. They’re simply your average sock with style. It is also debatable whether Stance socks are worth the money. Unlike other socks, such as the Icebreaker Merino wool socks, which I wrote a review of, these socks don’t have features like odor resistance, extreme breathability or the ability to dry quickly.
At retail $14, these socks are also more expensive than generic socks, i.e. Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. If you are planning on wearing your Stances often, they could be worth the investment, however that completely depends on your own perception. It would be nice if Stance could add some more features to their socks to further validate the price tag.
Nevertheless, it’s important to remember that Stance didn’t design these socks to for high performance wear, rather for casual wear and just to look cool, but they do have a performance line.
The Verdict:
The Barracks Stance socks are a well designed pair of socks in terms of style and comfort, however their price and lack of features may be a set back for some. Overall, these are a good choice for those looking for a stylish and comfortable pair of socks.

Stance makes so many different type of socks its not fair to say they are fashion socks; they make snowboarding, snow, basketball, hiking, tennis, running etc. Also most of their performance socks, depending on the purpose, are not cotton, they are synthetic blends some with wool. Some are short, crew, over the calf etc. They have so many different fits that they are numbered so you can locate the fit you want over and over. Actually I’m finding it very hard to get exactly what I want because not even the Stance site list the fit (mine are 56, 57, 59 so far, plus the materials,the purpose, and finally the sock size. I have a pair of cotton socks I cant use at $15, as I need synthetic blends and they are very thin, and the NBA Basket ball socks are shaped with a traditional heel and so heavy I.m not sure they will stretch like the skate socks that I want more of. Worse Not every skate sock is made of the same blends and some have to be warm water washed and air dried, but it doesn’t say on the sock so how do you keep a drawer-full straight. But I simply love the one I got lucky with and if you get the type you want you will just as much in love.
I recently picked up a pair of Stance Socks to try out and from my perspective they are the best socks in the $10-$20 price range. If you are looking for a sock with a little bit more of a cushion then you should try out the athletic or training socks also by Stance.

If you want more features in the sock they are going to charge you more for those features especially a hungry and growing company like Stance. Also those barrack socks were printed and not knitted so it’s very easy to make that sock with any kind of design you want literally anybody can call up a factory and make that sock it’s a synthetic polyester blend hit with a cylindrical printer nothing special, In my humble opinion Stance is still far from a perfect sock. Where is the evolution of their performance. their basketball sock hasn’t changed in over 5 years – very slow to evolve product. 90% of their performance socks haven’t evolved since its release. I think their socks have become stale and stagnant as far as features and actual technical design, but what do I know, I only worked there for almost 10 years…
I’m a convert to Stance especially the white ones. I am fusst with socks and have found they wash well and still look new. Some great designs too.
