Ugmonk T-Shirt Review: Quality, Fit and More

Prior to getting my Ugmonk Mountains t-shirt, I had no idea what to expect.

After seeing the minimalistic design, I was sold. But I wasn’t sure about the sizing, quality or much about the shirt itself. I bit the bullet anyways – and didn’t regret it at all.

In this review, I’m going over all the questions I had prior to buying my Ugmonk Mountains t-shirt. The product shots looked great, but how would the shirt fit? Was it comfortable? Would it last?

Note: Although I own the t-shirt with the Mountains design, this review also applies to their other t-shirts, which are essentially the same as the Mountains shirt, just with different colors and designs.

Here are my observations after wearing their Black Series Mountains t-shirt:

Pros:

• Great designs
• Comfortable, soft (made of cotton)
• Perfect fit (see more in ‘Fit and Sizing’ section)

I bought my Mountains t-shirt for the design.

Shipping was on time and as expected. Regular shipping cost around $4 and is sent via USPS.

The t-shirt designs are screen printed, which feel like those of any other printed shirts. I don’t know the technical details of printing, but I’d expect for the t-shirt designs to last many wears and washes. Here’s some more info taken from the Ugmonk FAQ:

Will the printing fade?

Because we choose to use soft water-based inks, some of the prints will fade some after being washed. Black prints tend to fade the most, but will still hold up for lots of wear and washes.

Fit and Sizing:

The best way to make sure you get the right fit is by measuring your favorite t-shirt, then comparing those measurements to Ugmonk’s sizing chart.

I ordered the t-shirt in Small. Being 5’9″, 130 lbs, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Mountains t-shirt had a slim fit. I don’t know about the other sizes, but the Small sized Ugmonk shirt has a slim fit which really fit my frame.

Cons:

• A bit pricey for what you get

The Ugmonk t-shirt doesn’t have any technical features; it’s just a classic cotton tee. With that said, retail $26 for a cotton t-shirt is a bit pricey.

There are some sales on their shirts, though. Usually when visiting the Ugmonk site, you’ll get a popup telling you to join their email list to get a coupon code for 15% off your first purchase. Also, they have holiday and anniversary sales. I believe the anniversary sale is around October.

I bought my Black Series Mountains t-shirt during their 20% off Black Friday sale. Great deal. After the discount and including shipping, I paid around $25 for the shirt.

It’s important to note, that purchases help give back to orphanages around the world. Also since Ugmonk isn’t a massive company, their products aren’t really mass produced.

The Verdict:

I was not disappointed by my first Ugmonk purchase. The shirt has an awesome design, perfect fit and is something I plan on wearing very often. I even bought one with the words NEVER SETTLE for my cousin. Ugmonk’s shirts are casual, comfortable and have great designs. And it is made in the USA. I might end up getting the charcoal and classic Mountains t-shirts next…
