When using the Add-A-Rest pillow, we noticed how easy it was to attach to the car headrest. The hood is meant to fit all car seats, and it fit our Honda Odyssey’s headrest perfectly. To attach the hood, slide it over your car’s headrest, then tighten it by cinching the elastic cord.
Unlike traditional ‘u’ shaped pillows, the Add-A-Rest can be used several ways according to your needs. Here are 3:
- Headrest position – attach the pillow to the hood. The pillow can be adjusted according to the user’s height by shifting the pillow up or down the velcro strip. One of our reviewers who is 5’9″ tested the Add-A-Rest pillow and it fit perfectly.
- Lumbar support position – place the pillow at the bottom of seat where your lower back is. This position gives extra lower back support.
- 180º flip position – essentially the headrest position flipped upside down, then lowered by a few inches. This gives extra support to the upper back, a better view of the road, and still supports the cervical spine.
In addition to being able to be used on road trips, the pillow can be used on planes. Due to the limited space to recline your seat back, and the forward angle of the upper padded portion of most airline seats, we found the 180 flip position to be the most comfortable.
