Origami Unicorn Travel Organizer Review + Giveaway

May 26, 2016 By Thither Staff 13 Comments

This competition has ended! Congrats to our winner, Matthew J. from the UK!

Origami Unicorn Travel Organizer Giveaway

Think back to a time where you had to dig through your tangled, messy suitcase to find a pair of socks. Maybe that was during your last vacation.

Some links found in this post are affiliate links, meaning I may receive a commission if you decide to make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

Recently on two short trips, one to Boston and another to Central New York, I was able to test the Origami Unicorn packing organizer. The Origami Unicorn packing organizer is basically a merge between a toiletry kit and a packing cube. This organizer is branded as a “Travel Undergarment Organizer”, but honestly I find there to be a lot more space for clothes in addition to undergarments.

The Origami Unicorn organizer was originally launched on Kickstarter and is now selling their product to the general public. Here are my thoughts on the product after testing:

Pros:

  • Great for organizing your undergarments or all your clothes in general
  • Can be easily hung
  • Fun, colorful design
  • Lots of pockets
  • Smooth zippers
  • Rolls up and can be comfortably packed in a carry-on suitcase

I’ve used the Origami Unicorn organizer for packing all of my clothes for a two day trip. My shirts went in the top compartment, my pants in the middle and my socks and underwear in the bottom. I was also able to stick in some small toiletries and my toothbrush. Since it was a short trip, I was able to pack everything I needed in the organizer. On other longer trips, you can use the Origami Unicorn organizer exclusively for underwear, bras, undergarments, accessories and toiletries.

There are 3 main pockets in the organizer and there are small pouches inside of the top two main pockets.

What makes the Origami Unicorn easy to use is its ability to be hung. With the button clasps located at the top of the organizer, you can hang the organizer up in your hotel closet, in the bathroom, or on your hostel bunk.

When rolled up, you can use the same button clasps to close the organizer, making it easy to pack in your carry-on or travel backpack.

Cons:

  • The way this organizer is laid out leaves some wasted space at the sides

If you’re very space conscious, it’ll be important to know that when using the Origami Unicorn organizer, there is a bit of space lost at the edges. The way the organizer rolls up is in my opinion not as compact or space efficient as packing with the normal rectangular packing cube layout. The current design is easy to use and makes it everything easy to access, though.

The Verdict:

The Origami Unicorn travel organizer is great if you’re looking for something like a packing cube, but with more compartments and options for organization. The organizer can easily store all of your undergarments as well as some toiletries and clothes.

Priced at retail $49, the Origami Unicorn packing organizer isn’t cheap, but isn’t too pricey either.

I would keep this for myself and I ‘d like to take it on our next vacation. I would love to go to Yellowstone National Park.
