Tempur-Pedic Travel Neck Pillow Review

March 20, 2015 By Thither Staff Leave a Comment

Most hotel pillows tend to be either too soft or too firm – except for the Four Seasons‘ (just saying).

According to Independent Traveler, one crucial way to sleep better at a hotel is by bringing your own pillow from home. The familiarity and comfort of a pillow from home allows you to fall asleep faster and get a better rest. That’s exactly what the Tempur-Pedic travel pillow is perfect for. Shove it into it’s carrying bag, and bring it with you when traveling.

Pros:

  • Plush TEMPUR® material
  • Supports neck and shoulders
  • Compressing carrying pouch
  • Removable and washable cover

The Tempur-Pedic Travel Neck Pillow lives up to the quality you’d expect from a leading brand like Tempur-Pedic. With it’s unique shape, the pillow is meant to support the back, neck and shoulders and relieve pain. While testing the pillow, I’ve noticed that the pillow really conforms to the shape of my neck and is quite relaxing.

This pillow is basically an abridged version of Tempur-Pedic’s full sized neck pillow.

I’m a big fan of the TEMPUR® material; it’s a great stress reliever to squeeze. 🙂 Besides it’s quality as a stress reliever, the material is surprisingly compressible and soft.

According to the Tempur-Pedic website, the pillow “helps prevent snoring and other sinus problems that can disrupt sleep”.

While the pillow is in it’s travel pouch, it can be used as a cylindrical pillow.

Cons:

  • Bulky
  • A bit too narrow
  • Pricey (retail $79.00)

Since this pillow isn’t your average “U” shaped neck pillow, it is larger and heavier than most travel pillows. The Tempur-Pedic neck pillow comes with a convenient carrying bag which I mentioned earlier, but it is still bulkier than other pillows which I’ve reviewed such as the Travelrest and Cabeau Evolution Pillow.

The pillow weighed in at 1.5 pounds according to my handy David’s Been Here Luggage Scale. The weight may not be ideal if you’re planning on traveling light, although if you’re going on a cruise or road trip it would be fine since there aren’t as strict luggage rules.

Another issue which I’ve noticed is that the pillow is quite narrow. This means that your head will roll off the pillow if you turn frequently while sleeping.

The Verdict:

Tempur-Pedic travel neck pillow is a luxurious travel pillow better suited for use in hotels rather than in planes. Although it is somewhat bulky and heavy, the added comfort and carrying pouch make the Tempur-Pedic a shrewd purchase for frequent hotel goers and travelers.
