Traveling the World in Slippers

Traveling for 7 months with only two pairs of shoes has been better than I expected. Before we embarked on our RTW, I decided that I would bring my slides and my Merrell Barefoot Gloves. So far, both of my shoes have served me well.

I have a strange relationship with my Adidas Superstar Slides. I first bought them on Zappos.com after having a dilemma about which pair to buy. Fast forward to today, and they have been with me to 12 countries and to some extreme places. I’ve hiked, climbed up a sand dune, and survived below freezing temperatures while wearing my slides.

The Adidas slides are perfect for casually walking around a hotel, apartment or in town. It’s really important to bring flip-flops or slides to wear as a secondary option to shoes when traveling. It gives you another option, and allows your primary shoes to dry.

My hands down favorite feature of the slippers is the memory foam cushioning. The thick cushioning is almost massaging to the feet. The foam makes the slides really comfortable for wearing at home, or even during a long flight. They are super comfortable and convenient because they can just slip on and off.

The only downsides to the slides are that they aren’t waterproof and they are a bit heavy. The memory foam cushioning soaks up water, so it’s always a bit of an issue because I can’t really shower with them, or go to the pool. The slides are durable, but weigh even more than my Merrells do.

Right now, I’ve had them for over a year and there are huge holes in the memory foam. I think it’s about time for me to get a new pair…

You can find the slides here.
