I bought these socks on REI.com for traveling to cold weather areas, and for hiking. I bought them in large and my shoe size is a 9. I used them recently in Patagonia and my toes stayed warm but not sweaty. They are crew length and made of a blend of materials, mainly merino wool. They were a bit pricey ($12) for one pair of socks, compared to other cotton socks, but other merino wool socks like the REI ones are usually much more expensive, like in the $15+ price range. These socks have what is considered light cushioning, but it was more than enough cushioning for me. If your shoes are tight on you, then these socks may not fit because they are pretty thick. Overall I would recommend these socks to anyone who is going trekking, or traveling to cold places.
Here is a picture of what I like about the socks and what I don’t.
